Knowing Dr Braxton Hicks to be a 
very hardworking & painstaking 
observer - it is with great regret 
that I feel compelled to report 
against the publication of his 
paper “On the homologues of the 
Eye & its parts in the Invertebrata”
in the Philosophical Transactions 
The only new point brought 
forward in the Memoir appears 
to me to be - the statement that 
the crystalline lenses of the 
[Gemmata?] & Arachnida
