difficulties in the way of both the received & opposing views of the mode in which such eyes subserve vision. In a word, Dr Hicks Memoir might well find a place in a journal but I think it is not fit for the Transactions of the Royal Society - where such a subject is dealt with at all, should be treated comprehensively & exhaustively T H Huxley FRS The Secretary of the Royal Society
