                                to the pleura /p8/ which is well shewn in 
Dr. Heale’s preparations is accurately described 
by Reisseisen, Rossignol, Adriani, and 
others.
The description and delineation of the 
fine net work of capillaries of the 
pulmonary veins, spread over the bronchial 
mucous membrane, form a prominent 
feature in Dr. Heale’s paper. He attributes 
to that plexus the power of arterialising the 
blood.
This plexus is imperfectly figured by 
Reisseisen Plate III fig.4, and it is thus 
described in Weber’s edition of Hildebrandts 
Anatomie /IV.202/ “Die Lungenvenen 
entstehen aber nicht bloss aus den Haar=
=gefassnitzen, welche die Enden der Luftrohre uberziehen, sondern auch von den Haargefassnitzen welches an der inneren 
Oberflaeche der Luftroehrenaeste liegt,
und sein Blut von den Bronchialarterien 
zugefuehrt erhaelt.” <s>and <\s> At page 203
in the same work the oxigenation of the blood is ascribed to 
the vessels thus distributed on the mucous 
membrane of the smaller bronchiae.
