                                evidence is adduced such as the 
occurrence of fossil marine shells 
to corroborate this view - which is 
also given in his book on Te-
neriffe at pp. 226 - 227 229 -

The ice-cavern in the M.S. as in 
the book p 388 is first assumed 
to have been due partly to an upheaving 
& partly to an eruptive force &
then this upheaval is used as if 
it were an observed modus operandi 
in support of V. Buch’s elevation - cra-
ter theory.
In like manner the chief if 
not the only argument adduced in 
support of the upheaval of the outer circus (& this too 
is anticipated in the printed book)
rests on an assumption that the 
Val di Taoro has been caused
