Author of this paper would find it easy to do so, with
-out the adoption of words, phrases & turns of expression
such as those I have indicated by pencil marks in
pages 63, 68, 69, 71, 72, <u>73<\u>, 74, 75, <u>76<\u>, 77, <u>78<\u>, (NB.) 79.80, 81,
82, <u>83<\u>, 84, 85, of Vol.7. and pp. 2, 16, 73, 80 of Vol.9., to which,
especially those underlined, I beg to call the attention
of the Council. -
Many of the Meteorological results are of great value
especially those which indicate the closer attendance
of changes of season on the Sun’s annual movement,
aloft than below - The remarks on the geographical Zones
of plants in relation to the distribution of moisture as
well as of temperature in p.75. Vol.9. et seq. appear to me
curious and interesting. -
In respect of the publication of the Steoroscopic
photographs, I know not whether in the first place,
Engravings <u>can<\u> be executed so faithful to originals as to
convey the Steoroscopic Effect - And there are certainly
some among them, which it would not be necessary
to incur the heavy expense of engraving - But of this
the Council must judge. -
JFW Herschel
