
Copy of Mr Airy’s report on Mr Adams’s paper “on the secular variation of the moon’s motion “ - “I have read, without attempting to verify every part, Mr Adams’s paper “on the secular variation &c” - and beg leave to offer to the council of the Royal Society the following report on it. First I have to remark that there can be no question on the interesting character of the subject, the extreme delicacy of the consideration in= =volved in it, the difficulty of treating them properly, the unrivalled powers of the writer of this Essay, and the general value & importance of the Paper. I trust therefore that it will be under =stood that in the following remarks I am only stating my first impressions
