Report on Mr Laming’s Memoir on Attractions
I have not read the whole of this memoir, but quite
sufficient to convince me that is altogether
unworthy of a place in the Transactions
of the Royal Society. I need only refer
to Article 17 to shew that he is ignorant of
the most simple principles of mathematical
reasoning in the action of forces: his subsequent
experiments have no bearing on his principles.
I did not think it necessary to proceed farther
in reading this paper
