cast over their whole surface. When the
capsule was punctured and the fluid allowed
to escape, both capsule and lens were
found to be quite clear. The appearance was
therefore probably due to a difference in
refractive powers of the fluid and lens.

Examination of the fluid showed it to contain a
trace of dissolved protein, while weighings before
and after puncture showed that it accounted
for one-third to one-half of the gains in
weight at the end of two hours and for
more than half the gain in 24 hours.

The dogs lenses without capsules showed
swelling causing the lens matter to bulge
between the three limbs of the lens [text?]
which remained as depressions.
