5 Changes in the lens during immersion in
Ringer's solution and in aqueous humour.

Lenses immersed in aqueous humour of the
same animal (dog + ox) withdrawn from the eyes
just before or just after death increased slightly
in weight, about 4%, during the first hour
of immersion and remained more or less
constant afterwards for two days.

Lenses immersed in [text?] solution [text?]
with aqueous humour (ox, dog, rabbit) increased
by about 4% of their weight in the first hour
and remained more or less constant for a
few hours. The later results were less
regular. After 24 hours in the case of the
rabbits, the lenses had gained 10% in weight;
in the case of the dog, two lenses had gained by about 2% while a third stood at 8%. One
of the first two observed over a further period
of several days showed an increase in weight
