Ox lenses left to dry in air lost
weight at approximately the same
rate whether
with or without capsules under the same
atmospheric conditions. All lost weight more
rapidly at first, losing 9-12% in the
first three hours, about 58% in five days
and about 59% in eight days.

Dogs' lenses showed a similar curve of
drying under the same conditions, losing 15%
of their weight in the first 2 1/2 hours, about 50%
in the first 30 hours and 57% in five days,
after which there was no further change in
weight for a further two days.

The lenses in capsules remained clear
throughout the drying and could be dried
and allowed to reimbibe water several times without
apparent change. Those without capsules became
