hours.

Dogs' lenses immersed in mixtures of equal
parts of 5% glucose and Ringer's solution
gained 4% in a few hours and 5.7% in twenty-
four hours; that is to say, they gained at
about the same rate as control lenses
immersed in Ringer's solution alone.

Mixtures of salts:

After immersion for two hours in a mixture
of equal parts of 1.2% saline and 4.5% calcium
chloride solution, ox lenses did not gain in
weight when put into distilled water.

After standing for one and a half hours
in a mixture of 1.2% saline and calcium
chloride [text?] 0.5%, lenses gained about 5% in
one hour and 8-9% in two hours' immersion
in water.
