10th January 1844.
With an Enclosure 
Referred to in Military Letter 
to England dated 26 March 
1844 No. 16 Para 1.
Reports the result of his 
journey to the South for the 
purpose of observing the 
Solar eclipse on the 21st
December 1843 he has taken 
the opportunity of making 
observations of the Dip 
and Horizontal Intensity 
at certain places on hi 
return.
