Sir, I am commanded by the Court of Directors of the East India Company to forward, for communication to the Council of the Royal Society, the accompanying Papers containing a Report by Lieut. Ludlow Superintendent of the Magnetical Observatory at Madras, of the result of his Journey to the South for the purpose of observing the Solar Eclipse of the 21st December 1843.
