Explains his reasons for communicating the paper, and expresses his surprise that two of the referees were unfavourable considering Mehta's careful investigations. Requests the return of the paper so that it can be published elsewhere.

[Not published in Royal Society journals but published in the Quarterly Journal of Microscopical Science, vol 76, issue 301, 1933, pp. 35-61].
