Description

Agrees that the best course of action is to send the two referee's reports to James Clerk Maxwell, and leave it to him to move forward on withdrawing the paper. The incorrect and correct formulae are very similar, the mistake probably being a transcription error. It is regretful that the error was not noticed sooner, before the paper was submitted to the Philosophical Transactions, and the abstract published in the Proceedings.
