Not recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, although it could be placed in the Proceedings instead (after editing). The paper shouldn't be published in it's current form as 'no indication is given in the paper that anything of the kind has ever been done before, so that the reader cannot tell whether the investigations are presented to the Society as an improvement on what has been hithero done'.
