Medawar writes: 'Dear Martin, I return herewith Chitty's manuscript on voles with a copy of the letter in which he explains how he has met the suggestions and criticisms of the referees. I believe he has conscientiously met their objections and hope that the paper may now be accepted for publication. Yours sincerely, P B Medawar'.
