The paper is the same as another paper by Sir Henry James, but with the tables omitted, which would usually count against publication by the Royal Society. The wide circulation of the Philosophical Transactions counts towards publication of such important information. Refers to work by Henry Kater. Suggests references to other works be made clearer.
