Letter from William Benjamin Carpenter, to George Gabriel Stokes, regarding a paper 'Researches on the structure, physiology, and development of Antedon (comatula, Lamk.) rosaceus. -Part I' by William Benjamin Carpenter

Reference number: RR/6/44

Date: 20 August 1866

Description

Is glad the paper will be published, and will go over the illustrations carefully with Henry Benjamin Wheatley. Thinks lithography will be best, but does not like Williams's work. Was satisfied with the work by Aldous on a previous paper on Formaninifera, and hopes to give some of the work to him. Would like to trial the microscopic illustrations with the deaf artist who drew the figures and has done good lithographic work for the Ray Society. Discusses the Government plans for Burlington House, moving the Royal Society out of the centre and moving in the Royal Academy. 'This will not do at all'.
