Referee's report by Charles Edward Inglis, on a paper 'The relationship between viscosity, elasticity and plastic strength of a soft material as illustrated by some mechanical properties of flour dough IV— The separate contributions of gluten and starch' by Robert Kenworthy Schofield and George William Scott Blair

Date: December 1936

Description

Sectional committee: Engineering

It seems as though the authors have 'run the subject to death' and a further paper like this may not be justified. If one of his students wrote this paper, he would advise them to re-write it completely. Some sentences are incomprehensible and the style leaves much to be desired. The coining of words such as 'randomly' should not be encouraged. The paper should be condensed and re-written.
