Returns the reports of William Hallowes Miller [RR/5/258] and George Gabriel Stokes [RR/5/260], and will be adopting their suggestions, although the new experiments will take time and may not be ready before the end of the year. Is considering writing a new communication in which the results are compared and the experiments expanded upon.
