Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Finds the paper of much importance. Received the manuscript on his return from northern Norway, where he previously conducted work on atmospheric electricity, which led him to recommend the location to the author Edward Victor Appleton for his polar year observations. 'Rather a strange coincidence'.
