Referee's report by Guy Anstruther Knox Marshall, on a paper 'Transference of Induced food-habit from parent to offspring. Part I' by D E Sladden
Reference number: RR/51/67
Date: 02 August 1933

Description
Sectional Committee: Zoology
Not recommended for publication in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of London'. 'The author can hardly have made herself aquainted with the origin and habits of the stick insect with which she has experimented, since she states that privet is its "natural food" and appears to assume that she has induced a ewe food habit in getting it to eat ivy. The species is a tropical one from South India, but has been reared under artificial conditions in Europe for many years. Evidence is available to show that it is highly polyphagous'. Refers to work of Henry Ling Roth, who has previously reared stick insects on a diet of ivy.
