Referee describes paper as being 'a very interesting analysis of the laws of the phenomena of compass deviation'. The paper is 'responsive as an equal to that of the same author, published in Philosophical Transactions 1939'. [doi:10.1098/rstl.1839.0014]

Referee does not consider themselves suitable to offer an opinion due to having 'not read any of the other investigations dealing with the same problem'.
