Recommended for publication in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of London'. Has noted mistakes and suggestions for modification on the manuscript. The paper requires 'stringent editing', and would not be accepted by the Journal of Physiology as it stands. Does not consider the figures ready for reproduction, asks if the Royal Society usually draws the figures of the authors as required.
