Description

Not recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Notes some problems with the apparatus used for the experiments. Refers to work of Johann Carl Friedrich Gauss, Wilhelm Eduard Weber, Johann von Lamont and others. Reviewer believes the author of the paper is not up-to-date on current investigations into the laws of magnetic forces, 'and it is probable that he would not himself desire the publication of his paper had he been acquainted with them'.
