Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society', but only if the paper by Archdeacon Pratt is also to be included, in which case Airy's paper should be inserted immediately after; if it is not printed immediately after the Archdeacon's paper in the Transactions, it should probably be printed at length in the Proceedings. Refers to similar measurments undertaken by John Henry Pratt (Archdeacon of Calcutta).
