Referee's report by Richard Quain, on a paper 'On a geometrical representation of the action of the heart' by William John Macquorn Rankine

Reference number: RR/2/201

Date: 04 February 1852

Description

Not recommended for publication in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of London'. Considers paper to contain very little original material, the descriptions of the heart can be found in similar fashion elsewhere. Refers to work of John Reid in the Cyclopedia of Anatomy and Physiology, with whose work the current paper disagrees on some anatomical structures. Considers the new findings of this paper to be 'much too small' for justifiying its publication.
