Not recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. The experiments are not of the standard for the Transactions, but are fine for the Proceedings. The results have partly been published elsewhere. No reference has been made in the paper to the work of Richard Semar [?], who has taken a different view to the author.

[Published in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, 1913]
