Referee's report by George James Burch, on a paper 'On a comparison of the methods of equality of brightness, flicker and acuteness of of vision, as applied to heterochromatic photometry' by J S Dow

Reference number: RR/17/153

Date: June 1907

Description

Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

Not recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Suggests the paper and illustrations could be adequately published in the Proceedings. Considers the diffuse style and 'quite unusual words and phrases' to be more suited to a 'public lecture'. Figure 2 has already been published [Phil. Mag., August 1906], some passages of text are exact copies from the same paper, whilst other figures are reproduced from articles in 'The Electrician'. The author uses a method devised by John Ambrose Fleming, but without reference. Suggests the author be asked to clearly indicate which 'experimental results he is now putting forward as new'.
