Description

Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

Not recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. The results are not of sufficient value. The first part of the paper relating to the structure of gold leaf, has been sufficiently described in the first paragraph of the abstract. The unimportant character of the problem does not seem to justify so elaborate a research and the photographs are not worth the expense of reproducing. As far as he can remember, the second part on the transparency and absorption spectrum of gold leaf, does not appear original. Even if he is wrong regarding originality, it is still not up to the Philosophical Transactions mark. A rather fuller abstract of the second part, with a reproduction of one or two of the photographs of spectra might be inserted into the Proceedings'.
