Referee's report by John Newport Langley, on a paper 'A comparative study of the grey and white matter of the motor-cell groups; and the spinal-accessory nerve in the spinal cord of the porpoise, (Phocoena communis)' by D Hepburn and D Waterston

Reference number: RR/16/66

Date: 13 August 1903

Description

Sectional Committee: Physiology

Leaves the matter of publication in Philosophical Transactions to the Committee and would himself raise no objection. The work is sound without any marked originality or treatment of results. If it is published he thinks it should be in full and does not discuss modification. Recommends that only one plate of photographs are given as they do not show anything that could not be shown by line sketches. The sketches could be reduced and placed in the text. In general thinks the work has been carefully done and contains a number of interesting facts. The results however are for the most part the same as those already known for other spinal cords and the variations noted can hardly be regarded as of first class importance.
