Referee's report by William Cecil Dampier Whetham, on a paper 'Galvanic cells produced by the action of light. The chemical statics & dynamics of reversible and irreversible systems under the influence of light (second communication)' by Meyer Wilderman

Reference number: RR/16/405

Date: October 1905

Description

Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

Not recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. It is inordinately long, badly arranged and difficult to read. It contains details of work already published in Proceedings with an account of more experiments on the electromotive force of cells in which one plate only is exposed to light.

A certain amount of experimental results have been obtained which seem worthy of record, but on the whole, the paper should not appear in the 'Transactions'. The author might be told that a certain number of pages of the 'Proceedings' would be placed at his disposal, for a short account of work not described in his previous paper and any necessary amplification of the description of the power experiments.

[Published in Philosophical Transactions A, 1906].

Endorsed on verso as received 11 October 1905.
