Date: June 1905

Description

Sectional Committee: Physiology

Starling thinks these papers worthy of publication by the Royal Society but whether they are suitable for the Philosophical Transactions is doubtful and he thinks they are both adopted for the Proceedings'. If published in the 'Proceedings' the greater part of each paper should be published. The introductory material of Part I is interesting but much too long and should be abbreviated. The numerous facts as to the occurrence of heat in different animals could be given in the form of referenced tables. Part II might be published in full, perhaps putting the historical part into small type. The illustrations are not essential to understanding the descriptions given. Notes these papers makes distinct advances in science and are more important than many papers which have already appeared in the Transactions.

[Published in Philosophical Transactions B, 1906].
