Description

Sectional Committee: Physiology

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. All the illustrations should be reproduced. Were it not for the importance of the information contained in the paper he should have soon hesitated in recommending it for publication owing to the expense involved. It seems to him however that it is in just such a case as this that the Royal Society can do real service to science by enabling the publication of laborious researches which would otherwise be impossible by reason of the considerable cost. The work executed must have involved enormous time and labour. The results are of great value owing to the care taken in keeping records of the exact position of the sections and the simultaneous observation of cells and fibres. Many new facts are brought to light and old facts brought into relation with the new ones. The paper is well written and enormously readable.
