Description

Sectional Committee: Zoology

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions in full. The author should reconsider his remarks on synapsis on pages 12 and 13 as he uses the term in a sense foreign to its accepted use. The illustration should be reproduced. In general the paper is interesting and rather boldly speculative in part, especially that relating to the supposed connecting of the nucleolus with normal cell metabolism, but the contribution to the history of the yolk nucleus is important. Would be glad if the author added a paragraph in his introduction in which he discusses the legitimacy of the conclusions he draws from acrdophily[?] and basophily in the light of Fischer's work, as the author may not agree with the conclusions of Fischer's work, but they ought to be reckoned with as so large a part of the author's argument turns on the interpretation placed on the colour reactions mentioned.
