Referee's report by Edward Albert Sharpey-Schafer, on a paper 'Changes observable in the liver cells during digestion and their relation to hepatic secretion' by Professor Edward William Wace Carlier
Reference number: RR/16/279
Date: 22 February 1905

Description
Sectional Committee: Physiology
The paper should be published in Philosophical Transactions in full, but if there published in full the abstract provided for the Proceedings is unnecessarily long. The paper is unnecessarily long. The author assumes that the changes which he figures in the calls are zymogen and speaks of them throughout by this name although offering no evidence, experimental or otherwise, in favour of this view. Schafer thinks this name should be dropped throughout the paper, although he has no objection to the author stating his view regarding the material in question. All the illustrations should be reproduced. No general remarks are given.
