The paper is best suited for the Proceedings. If published in Philosophical Transactions it should appear in full although a good deal of the paper refers to the particular form of the curve of cooling and can have little general interest. Both illustrations should be reproduced. The matter in this paper is not of the nature of a new discovery or of the determination of the nature of a physical constant, but is largely a determination of the character of the action in a process which probably varies materially according to more or less accidental circumstances, and is therefore to a certain extent a history, or at least the result of certain experimental details, of the apparatus used. Discusses the hypothesis posed on page 29 of the paper in relation to the work of Dr S J Parke[?].
