Description

Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

Not recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. The paper shows much painstaking observational work. A rather full abstract with one or two of the tables and curves given as examples of the type of results obtained would be of value. The author seems to have carried all his calculations to too many decimal places and has not made a second series of observations on a second length of the wire or on the same wire after being annealed. A measurement of the electrical resistance of the wires would also be of much use, enabling the reader to judge the physical condition of the wires. If the Council decide to print the paper in extenso he suggests why pages ten to fourteen and twenty three be omitted.
