Referee's report by Horace Tabberer Brown, on a paper 'The dual force of the dividing cell. Part I. The Achromatic Spindle Figure, elucidated by magnetic chains of force' by Marcus Hartog

Reference number: RR/16/192

Date: 19 January 1905

Description

Sectional Committee: [Botany]

No clear statement regarding publication in Philosophical Transactions. Has read Hartog's paper but regrets to say that his knowledge of the fundamental biological and physical phenomena of which it treats is too slender for him to undertake the important duties of a referee. The general impression left on his mind is that the paper demonstrates some most remarkable analysis between the phenomena of karyokinesis and those induced by magnetic models, and that due weight will have to be given by cytologists to the facts here recorded, which are certainly suggestive of the existence of a dual force in the dividing cell.
