Description

Sectional Committee: Botany

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. Thinks it is somewhat difficult for a botanist to deal with this paper as it enters so largely into the domain of physics. If it is decided that the paper may be published in Philosophical Transactions, he sees no good reason why it should not be published in full. Modifications are not discussed. Thinks the number of illustrations might be reduced without distracting from the usefulness of the paper so as to take up one plate instead of two, with perhaps one extra process reproduction in the text to illustrate the apparatus devised by the author. He would not press for this against the author's judgement. Concludes by discussing the main considerations of the paper noting that the proposal of the author may be of use to biologists who are interested in the question.
