Description

Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

Chree encloses remarks in response to the referee's suggestions communicated in Larmor's letter. They aim mainly at explaining what the effect of carrying out the several suggestions would be. Chree replies to the three suggestions made in Schuster's referee's report. Chree discusses the length of the paper and agrees that this is mainly a result of emphasizing the details in the tables, and this might be much curtailed without seriously affecting the utility of the paper. He realises the subject is unlikely to appeal to a wide circle and the paper may be too long compared to its interest. In a good many instances however he has given only seasonal or annual values where he has actually worked out monthly values, with the simple object of reducing the length. Dosen't think the paper as it presently stands would occupy more than 40 pages of the 'Philosophical Transactions'.
