Description

Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

Not recommended for publication in the Philosophical Transactions. The abstract already published does justice to the subject matter. The general results could be summarized very briefly and these are chiefly the proof given of the necessity for complete demagnetisation of the iron before beginning ballistic tests. Thinks this result is already generally recognized. The author appears to over rate the importance of testing the permeability of sheet iron at low magnetic forces. The author does not deduce from his experiments any scientific principles or conclusions which are of any great novelty or generality.
