Description

Sectional committee: Zoology

Parts of the paper with a physiological bearing are recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions. Does not feel competent to express an opinion as to the author's views regarding the classification of mammals on the basis of the anatomy of the eye and would recommend someone more conversant with zoological science be consulted. Does not know how that paper can be curtailed except that portions relating to the zoological classification might be reduced or deleted. Feels a great difficulty regarding the illustrations; reproducing them would be costly but they constitute the most valuable portion of the paper. They are 'of great beauty and finish and bring out a number of interesting facts new to science'. Does not feel competent to suggest a reduction but the author may be able to suggest omissions. The paper must have entailed a great amount of labour. The work has been executed with great skill and seems a 'substanisal contribution to science'.
