Referee's report by William de Wiveleslie Abney, on a paper 'Wave-length determinations & general results obtained from a detailed examination of spectra photographed at the solar eclipse of Jan. 22 1898' by John Evershed

Reference number: RR/15/47

Date: February 1901

Description

Sectional committee: Physics and Chemistry

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions in full. The illustrations should be published but there would be no loss if they were somewhat reduced in length. Publication in the Philosophical Transactions is advised as it is 'better to have a uniform size for the eclipse communications', partly because the plates are necessary and partly because there is much that is new in the results. Evershed has evidently made a very useful study of his photographs but Abney trusts that more may be obtained from them by further inquiry.

[Published in Philosophical Transactions A, 1901].
