Referee's report by Harold Baily Dixon, on a paper 'Chemical dynamics and statics in light' by Meyer Wilderman
Reference number: RR/15/399
Date: March 1902

Description
Sectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry
Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, but due to the form in which it is presented, and the number of mistakes, it ought to be re-written or very carefully edited. The paper might be considerably abridged and the references to the author's unpublished works omitted. He fears he does not have time to correct the mistakes in language and spelling. The whole 'must' be turned into intelligible English before publication. Figure one, the diagram on page 48, and the tables of curves should all be reproduced. The paper attacks a very difficult problem with considerable success. Thinks the author has shown greater ingenuity and care in the physical part of his experimental method than in the chemical part. The author assumes that with pure acetylene and a particular burner the light will be constant when the total radiation is constant. He thinks this assumption is a probable one, but requires proof. Regarding the chemical manipulation the author does several things which he finds it hard to reconcile with his experience of accurate work with chlorine.
