Description

Sectional committee: not stated

Not recommended for publication. Though not personally acquainted with the author, he knows Edridge-Green's book and has read some of his published articles on colour perception. Within the last year Edridge-Green has several times written to him regarding his experiments and theories. Having recognized in him the qualities of a 'crank', he avoided entering into any discussion with him. Their correspondence is entirely amicable and he has lent the author apparatus. Having read the paper he admits it is 'rubbish and of 'so rank a character that no competent person could possibly take any other view of it'. After this admission of bias, he suggests Callendar as a suitable alternative referee. Thinks the referee should have Gladstone's paper on colour-sense from 'Nineteenth Century', volume II, p366-388, before him. Edridge-Green's paper is interspersed with a number of references and illusions taken directly from Gladstone's article, sometimes whole sentences have verbatim been taken without acknowledgement of source.
