Description

Sectional Committee: Zoology

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, in full with modification. The terms 'liner' and 'Porcelain phase' seem undignified, more appropriate terms should be found. The metaphor of a pack of cards should be omitted for the same reason. The term 'inner' in the target diagram should be changed for 'inermost circle' or similar. A short account of the spectroscopic analysis of the coloured screen should be given. A somewhat careful comparison with the results obtained by Poulton seems essential. Nearly all the drawings seems too hurried and rough for Philosophical Transactions, the want of symmetry being extremely marked. Assuming them to be carefully finished, they should all be reproduced. Suggests the figures be submitted to another referee such as Professor Howes, who has much experience in the publication of plates from drawings. In general the paper is interesting and well written. The referee has made large numbers of corrections of obvious errors [presumably on the original manuscript] and many more such errors still require correction.
