Letter from William Augustus Tilden, on a paper 'Some physical properties of nitric acid solutions' by Victor Herbert Veley and J J Manley to Arthur William Rucker
Reference number: RR/15/269
Date: 18 May 1901

Description
Sectional Committee:[Physics and chemistry].
In reply to Rucker's enquiry, he finds it difficult to answer definitively regarding which parts of the paper should be omitted. The fault lies in the author's style which leads him to 'the habitual use of the maximum number of words'. Outlines his suggestions for abbreviation noting in particular that the tables are unnecessary and the curves if properly re-drawn will represent the results for all practical purposes. If all the curves are given the whole might be compressed to about 12 pages of the 'Proceedings.
