Description

Sectional Committee: Botany

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, in full without modification. All the illustrations are required and it is to be regretted that no illustrations of the fossil allies such as Dictophyllum are added. Without such figures it is impossible for the reader to judge the value of evidence for the geological antiquity of the group. The paper of value in giving, for the first time, a full account of the structure of an interesting genus of ferns and as throwing new light on its systematic position. The authors views regarding the importance of the family in mesozoic times appear well founded but it would be well worth while to add an additional plate, in order that the evidence may be placed more convincingly before the reader.
